Sectors of Self

" Maybe you ought to get over the past " of such is reasonable council to share.
However the past isn't the issues. But the present mental turmoil brought forward by present circumstance access to historical memory. Which ignite current time emotions within an undeveloped mind. Or minds that experience severe trauma.
People understand the grieving at the death of loved ones. Well known facts about the ongoing healing process. Same methods are part of all memory good or bad and ugly.

The phrase "Forget the Past"  is well intended advice towards someone perceived to be overwhelmed within past thoughts.
However the fact is we access memory which are connected to the emotional activation systems of our subconscious.
Therefore the emotion driven persons having not developed the emotion off switch are constantly disoriented in the present situation by prior mentality of a similar circumstance.
Biblical wisdom instructs you in a method of thinking that develops a form of "Emotional Off Switch " Roots of the intention are to create a greater use of mental processing.  "not allowing the emotional upheaval of memories control your present circumstance" when the present situation causes those memories to be activated which stimulate the emotion activation centers of our brains.
Most people recognize the effects of negative stimulus of memory recall. Likely related to a painful experience, or any feelings of personal loss. Ironically the effects of positive memory stimulus are potentially as dangerous as the opposite.
Which being the fact of Old Testament warning about "Pride preceding the fall".
To summarize that higher levels of thinking lay outside the captivity of an emotional driven mental foundation of processing present tense input of lifes adventures.
Alternative would be to remember nothing which suggests, no development at all, remaining in diapers mothers wiping you clean, suckling mothers milk, etc.......
Newer mature understanding of Godly wisdom comes throughout a lifetime not at once and never more. Better get this the first time, no repeat.
